Our Highland Cattle are now well in excess of two hundred head and while the female foundation cattle were carefully selected and monitored the herd has benefited most from using some of the best Highland Bulls available.

Managed by Iain Wilkinson, who is Share Farming, has brought his own Hereford Pedigree Cattle.  Balgay specialises in Aberdeen Angus and Beef Shorthorns. With state-of-the-art facilities, a highly experienced team and a close focus on genetics and cattle health, Balgay delivers outstanding results.

We graze sixteen Shieldaig Croft Highlanders on the heather hills year round.  Each year we bring in a Shorthorn bull from one of the family farms, creating X-Shorthorn/Highland calves, which are then sold back to the family farm at weaning.
